We can usually arrange dates on demand providing you can attend for 2 days in the same week – excluding Wednesdays and Sunday. So,\u00a0you could choose either 2 consecutive days or 2 split days in the same week.<\/p>\n
This is a\u00a0tailor-made course\u00a0to teach you how to meet ALL of the\u00a0 grooming needs of your individual breed of dog –\u00a0including cross breeds. We find that 2 days are usually required.<\/p>\n
We are not a grooming salon that clips everything off \u2013 Unless it is absolutely essential!\u00a0\u00a0One of the problems which many owners experience when taking their dog to a groomer is that everything\u00a0does\u00a0get clipped off – which is often very unattractive and spoils the look of the dog
entirely! Instead we will teach you how you can achieve the style which suits the breed and its\u00a0lifestyle.<\/p>\n
We will teach you how to bath, dry and fully prepare the coat before styling. We include anal glands if needed, nails\/dew claws, ears and hygiene (sanitary) clip. All of this comes under the heading of “Preparation Work”. Then we move on to clipping – if appropriate –\u00a0and then scissoring to shape and style according to breed and owner requirements.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We would provide the equipment for you to use during your course, but you would need to have the necessary equipment for your own use after that. We would advise you on that. You would almost certainly need a few small hand tools – which are not expensive at all – but you may also need\u00a0professional clippers at approximately (\u00a3139),\u00a02 blades (approx \u00a326 each), Scissors and thinning shears. We can sell you a starter pack- A5 piece scissor\u00a0 and comb set here at Posh Pets Spain ( subject to availability).<\/p>\n
Added on to the cost of training, your initial outlay may add up to a few hundred pounds, but you would eventually re-coup this by saving on regular grooming costs. In addition,\u00a0you would also get the pleasure of grooming your own dog to your own liking –\u00a0at home in the future. \u00a0

The Groomers Pet Grooming Course<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is our most popular designed for a career in \u201cPet Grooming\u201d.<\/p>\nOnly 1 – 2 students are taken on for each course.\u00a0 This ensures a \u201cone-on-one\u201d training for each student with hands on training in a real working salon.\u00a0 The benefit of taking on a small number of students for each class ensures that each student reaches a high level of clipping and grooming techniques and enables us to cover the most common breeds of dogs.<\/p>\n
Your course will focus on the preparation of dogs for styling and you will gain experience in a wide variety of breeds. When you have at least 18 months practical dog grooming experience after the course, as\u00a0<\/span>\u201cquoted\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0by the British Dog Groomers association; you should be ready to enrol for the City & Guilds\/NPTC Advanced Dog Grooming Certificate if you so wish.<\/span><\/p>\nThe qualification consists of written and practical examinations on a range of dogs and coat types. It proves to future employers that you have been correctly trained, and gives your clients confidence in your ability.<\/span><\/p>\nBeyond this, the British Dog Groomers’ Association runs a Higher Diploma in Dog Grooming, an advanced test to show the expertise and skill required from the experienced groomer in a commercial environment.
