Pet Grooming Training Courses in Spain

Our Dog Grooming Training School on the Costa del Sol, Spain is here to meet your personal ambitions and requirements. This way we can give you the flexibility to learn what you need to learn. We have been teaching our dog grooming training courses in Spain since 2004 from our superb dog grooming training salon based in Alhaurin El Grande in Andalucia, Spain. We certainly lead where others follow.

One of the most common statements that our students say when they come on one of our dog grooming training courses is:

“I cannot believe how much we are taught even on day one, I never imagined I would be holding, let alone using scissors & clippers even on the first day when I enrolled on this two week grooming course”

The fact that you are looking to come to the Costa del Sol in Spain to train to be a dog groomer in the first instance means that you have “true grit and determination” and you want to follow a dream; we will help you fulfil and achieve your dream which will possibly change your life.

Yes our dog grooming training courses are structured but we listen to you and assess your abilities as a groomer so that we can formulate a plan to maximise the time you spend learning from us.

Dependent on your requirements we tailor the grooming course to suit your individual needs and future plans. We have the ability to teach all aspects of dog grooming. We listen to what you want to achieve and match the suitable elements of dog grooming, with your experience and ability, to piece together a plan of action to guarantee you achieve your success as a dog groomer.

We advise students not to buy any main equipment before training with us, we can then advise which tools will suit your potential salon or mobile van.

We are able to give even more help for those students that come on the 10 day Groomers Course or the 15 day Professional Groomers Course, as in conjunction with a leading Dog Grooming supplier in the UK we can knock a massive 12% off your Grooming starter kit!!!!

Our Training Courses

One Day Taster Day ( 11am to 3pm)

We would advise all would be groomers, when possible and taking distance into account, to visit our training centre and spend a few hours watching how we work. This would give you an insight into what grooming is really like.

Our friendly team would make you welcome and be available to answer your questions. You would also have the opportunity to see for yourself
our quality of work. This would assist you in making an informed decision on whether grooming for a career is right for you before committing to the training costs.

*Please notethat this is not a “hands-on” day.

Cost of taster day – 50.00€

Payment due on the day – cash preferred –  Cost of taster day will be deducted from subsequent course fees if booked on the day.

Two Day Pet Owner Course - ( 10am to 3:30pm)

We can usually arrange dates on demand providing you can attend for 2 days in the same week – excluding Wednesdays and Sunday. So, you could choose either 2 consecutive days or 2 split days in the same week.

This is a tailor-made course to teach you how to meet ALL of the  grooming needs of your individual breed of dog – including cross breeds. We find that 2 days are usually required.

We are not a grooming salon that clips everything off – Unless it is absolutely essential!  One of the problems which many owners experience when taking their dog to a groomer is that everything does get clipped off – which is often very unattractive and spoils the look of the dog
entirely! Instead we will teach you how you can achieve the style which suits the breed and its lifestyle.

We will teach you how to bath, dry and fully prepare the coat before styling. We include anal glands if needed, nails/dew claws, ears and hygiene (sanitary) clip. All of this comes under the heading of “Preparation Work”. Then we move on to clipping – if appropriate – and then scissoring to shape and style according to breed and owner requirements.

We would provide the equipment for you to use during your course, but you would need to have the necessary equipment for your own use after that. We would advise you on that. You would almost certainly need a few small hand tools – which are not expensive at all – but you may also need professional clippers at approximately (£139), 2 blades (approx £26 each), Scissors and thinning shears. We can sell you a starter pack- A5 piece scissor  and comb set here at Posh Pets Spain ( subject to availability).

Added on to the cost of training, your initial outlay may add up to a few hundred pounds, but you would eventually re-coup this by saving on regular grooming costs. In addition, you would also get the pleasure of grooming your own dog to your own liking – at home in the future.
All overalls and grooming equipment supplied during the course.

Please ensure you wear flat sensible footwear not sandals or flip flops. Bring a note pad, pen and a camera!!

Cost per day is 220€ per person – you will have one to one teaching, hence the cost. This includes your own dog having the full works with us, performed by you under supervision during your course. Only 1 dog per course.

The Groomers Course – Two weeks (10 day practical tuition)
